Description of the problem	I drove my car to a restaurant. After about 15 minutes, i returned and tried to crank the vehicle. The key fob did not unlock the stirring wheel and tires. I had it towed to the dealership and was told it was a steering column issue. Enough of an issue that it cost me $1000. 00 to repair. I started researching and found that there are many complaints about this same issue. There are references to both the esi and/or esl failures. This is a known issue with mercedes benz and i am concerned that this is a safety issue as motorist are left stranded unless towed.
